Q: Are Ultrasounds offered at your Office?
A: Ultrasounds are a part of our normal diagnostic and pre-natal
procedures and are offered routinely. In addition, our office provides
3-D ultrasounds at an extra charge. Please call our office for details.

Q: Does your office provide bone density testing?
A: Our office also performs bone densitometry.

Q: What can I take for constipation?
A: Metamucil, Citrucel, Milk of Magnesia, Fleets Enema, Colace,
Konsyl.

Q: What can I do for hemorrhoids?
A: Preparation H, Anusol HC, Tucks, Sitz baths are also helpful.

Q: How do I know if my water broke?
A: There is usually a big gush, which continues to leak until baby is
delivered. If unsure, go to the hospital to be evaluated
(if after office hours).

Q: What do I do if I am spotting any time during my
pregnancy?

A: Elevate your feet. Drink plenty of water. Avoid tampons or any
vaginal preparations until the doctor evaluates you. Call doctor if
during office hours. If after hours, please go to the hospital to be
evaluated.

Q: How do I know if I am in labor?
A:

  1. Contractions every 5 to 7 minutes for 1 hour (They usually
    begin in the back and travel across the abdomen. They also
    continue to become stronger.)
  2. A gush of watery liquid or a slow leaking from the vagina.
    (This means that the bag has ruptured and that the amniotic
    fluid is leaking.)
  3. Heavy vaginal bleeding.(More than a "bloody show,"
    and about the amount of a period.)

Q: What if I am having contractions, and I am not due yet?
A: Elevate your feet. Drink 32 ounces of water quickly, and then
continue to drink water. If this does not help, call doctor if during
office hours. If after hours, please go t the hospital to be evaluated.

Q: What if I haven’t felt the baby move?
A: You should eat something or drink something sugary or with
caffeine. Then lie on your left side and place your hands on
abdomen to feel the baby move. If the baby moves 6 to 10 times in
one hour, baby is fine. If the baby moves less than 6 times in one
hour, call doctor if during office hours. If after hours, go to the
hospital to be evaluated. This is called “kick counts”. You may need
to do this 2 or 3 times a day after meals is best) to reassure
yourself that the baby is alright.

Q: What do I do for nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea
(flu symptoms)?

A: It is important to stay well-hydrated during pregnancy
to avoid pre-term labor. Drink clear liquids (tea, water, Gatorade).
Emetrol or Pepto Bismol can be used for nausea, vomiting, and
diarrhea. Kaopectate is appropriate for diarrhea. BRAT diet is
recommended – bananas, rice, applesauce, toast, and tea. If unable
to keep liquids down for more than one day, call doctor if during
office hours. If after hours, go the hospital to be evaluated.
